Three people were shot and wounded Monday evening on Monroe Avenue at Sumner Park, leaving one of them in critical condition.

Rochester police say they were called by people who heard the shots and located the first two victims at the scene. A third later made his own way to Strong Memorial Hospital. The front window of a Monroe Avenue restaurant was shot out. There were no injuries to anyone inside.

A 31-year-old city man was hit in the upper body and was in critical condition at Strong. A 19-year-old city woman was hit in the upper body and taken to Strong with less serious injuries. She’s recovering after treatment. The third victim was an 18-year-old city man who was likewise shot in the upper body and is recovering.

The circumstances around the shooting are now under investigation.
