Rochester Police and the New York State Attorney General’s Office are investigating a triple shooting on Costar Street in Rochester that police say was a murder-suicide. Police say one of the women involved was a law enforcement officer from another jurisdiction — police haven’t yet said which one — and she died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after shooting the other two women. The AG’s Office is investigating because of the law enforcement connection.

Police say they were called to Costar Street near Saratoga Avenue on the West Side for a reported shooting. They arrived to find a 27-year-old victim who was pronounced dead at the scene, and 29-year-old who was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at Strong Memorial Hospital and a third woman in her 30s who was injured but is expected to recover.

Preliminary investigation showed the shooting arose from a domestic incident of some sort. The 29-year-old shot the other two women before turning her gun on herself. The names have not yet been released as police seek to notify their families.
