Monroe County officials say road conditions will vary greatly around the county because of blowing and drifting snow until evening. County Exec Cheryl Dinolfo didn’t declare any travel advisories but called on people to remember they’re driving on snow.
The Livingston County and Wayne County Sheriff’s Offices have issued travel advisories until further notice for both counties due to road conditions. No roads are actually closed, but caution is advised because of blowing snow and high winds.
National Weather Service spotters give us 24 hour snowfall totals of 14.2 inches at the Rochester airport, 15 inches in Penfield and 16 inches south of Fairport. We’re under a lake effect snow advisory until Monday evening as the gusty winds will continue driving lake effect snow.
The New York State Police are conducting a Thanksgiving holiday traffic enforcement period from Wednesday through Sunday. During the holiday weekend you can expect troopers to be highly visible. You can also expect to run into roving sobriety checkpoints and additional DWI patrols.
