Brighton police are calling it a tragic accident. They say a minivan backing out of a driveway struck and killed an elderly woman who was walking her dog in the road.
The accident happened Thursday afternoon near the corner of Oakdale and Mayflower Drives. Police Chief David Catholdi told police the woman may have been afraid to chance the sidewalks, although they were fairly clean of snow. He urged people to use their backup cameras and be very careful when backing out of a driveway onto a residential street, especially when snow piles are high.
