Supervisor Bill Reilich and the Greece Town Board are requesting a formal inquiry into the spring flooding along Lake Ontario and the damage to waterfront homes and businesses.

Reilich says they’ve written to President Trump asking for the federal government to examine the entire process of how the controversial Plan 2014 for regulating the Great Lakes was conceived, debated and adopted. They blame the plan for a slow response by the International Joint Commission when unusually heavy rains sent the water levels rising on lake Ontario. Reilich says he wants someone held accountable.

The IJC maintains it’s the record high rainfall that caused the record high water level.

The Lake has been holding at 248 ¾ inches for the past couple of weeks, just below the May record of 249 feet above sea level.
