Greece Supervisor Bill Reilich has released his 2019 town budget, proposing a tax rate cut from $6.33 per $1,000 in property value to $6.29.

This is the fourth year in a row the town tax rate has gone down, although the total amount of money collected usually goes up because of rising property values.

Reilich says the town has gone from a nine percent deficit when he took office in 2014 to a balanced budget by reducing costs and developing new revenue for Greece.

The proposed budget and capital plan for 2019 comes in at $1 million below the state tax cap. It will also enhance programs at the community and senior center, renovate another park shelter, upgrade the town service mall and install generators in town buildings to keep services going when the power goes out. It will also pay off the final debt installment on the town library.

Reilich says none of those improvements will be funded by borrowing.

A public hearing will be held Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Greece Town Hall.
