Below is a list of the five players predicted to be selected by the Bills with the No. 10 in the 2017 NFL Draft starting on Thursday, April 27.
Buffalobills.com has tracked more than 350 mock drafts in 2017. Find out which players national media are predicting the Bills will draft in April.
5. Jabrill Peppers, S, Michigan (23 selections)
Last choice: Eddie Brown, San Diego Tribune, February 1
New head coach Sean McDermott will be installing an aggressive 4-3 scheme — a switch from Rex Ryan’s traditional 3-4 defense. McDermott’s success in Carolina as defensive coordinator was predicated on an athletic group of linebackers. Two of those linebackers (Thomas Davis and Shaq Thompson) were converted college safeties. Sound familiar? Peppers, like Thompson, played every position under the Sun in college. The Heisman finalist was one of the best returners, weakside linebackers and safeties in the nation. They both also played running back.
4. Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan (25 selections)
Last choice: Dane Brugler, CBS Sports, March 21
The Corey Brown signing helps depth, but Sammy Watkins needs a sidekick and Davis offers the size, athleticism and receiving traits to make an immediate impact.
3. Jamal Adams, S, LSU (42 selections)
Last choice: Brent Sobleski, Bleacher Report, February 28
With Tyrod Taylor still on the roster, the franchise can stand pat at the 10th overall selection and choose one of the draft’s top talents. LSU’s Jamal Adams is this year’s most complete safety. …
If the Bills do pass on a quarterback, the rest of the draft’s signal-callers should prepare themselves for a potential tumble down boards.
2. Mike Williams, WR, Clemson (57 selections)
Last choice: Mel Kiper, ESPN, March 22
After losing Robert Woods to the Rams in free agency, the Bills have a clear need at receiver. And if Williams falls to No. 10, Buffalo would be getting a guy with a much high ceiling than Woods, not to mention another Clemson wideout to go alongside Sammy Watkins. Williams’ pro day moved him back to being my top-ranked receiver. His 40-yard dash was the question, and he ran right around 4.50, which is what he needed. Production wasn’t the issue — Williams (6-4, 218) had 98 catches for 1,361 yards and 11 touchdowns.
1. Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson (66 selections)
Last choice: Will Brinson, CBS, March 23
Fearing that the Jets might want to nab Watson, the Bills make a bold, Doug Whaley-style move to go up and grab another ACC quarterback who was highly productive but has issues about the system. (Gulp.) The Bills give up a third-round pick to the Titans and swap fourth-round picks to make things more or less even.
