First responders were called to a home on Chestnut Ridge Road in Chili this morning after a 16-month-old child fell into a swimming pool and came close to drowning.
Deputies said the parents immediately performed CPR after finding the young girl non-responsive in the pool, and EMTs were able to revive her. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says she was taken to the hospital and had a strong pulse.
Captain Jeff Wagner says there was no gate on the pool deck, but they can’t say yet if that contributed to the accident. It is a violation of Chili Town Code.
Neighbors say the pool is set well back from the house and they’ve never seen the children outside unattended.
