A Rochester real estate manager who’s the subject of a rent strike by some of his tenants is now being sued by the City of Rochester.
Thurston Road Realty, owned by Peter Hungerford, is being accused of violating property codes.
Tenants in Thurston Road buildings at 447 Thurston Road and 967 Chili Avenue have been sitting on their rent payments until various health and safety violations are fixed. They include roach and mouse infestation and clogged drains.
If Thurston Road Realty doesn’t fix the issues, the city wants a receiver appointed by the court to manage the properties and make the necessary repairs.
Hungerford says in a statement he’s fixed all the violations the city has brought against him, and he doesn’t understand their aggressive attitude.
