How did it feel to play on the inaugural Rochester Knighthawks team in 1995?
It was exciting. Back then I knew the history of lacrosse in Rochester in the ’70s when the city had a pro team.
Describe opening night that first season?
It was electric that night; the fans were awesome. The players were hoping to put on a great show and get a ‘W’ for the fans.
What is your most memorable moment as a Knighthawk?
The camaraderie with the guys on the team was memorable throughout my years with the Knighthawks, and, personally, getting the first goal in the season opener.
How was the pro game different back then?
Very few rules, players played both offense and defense back then.
Where was the toughest place to play?
Philadelphia.
Did you have any superstitions or pregame rituals when you played? If so, what were they?
Wore the same socks and T-shirt, unwashed if things were going well.
Who were some of your favorite teammates?
All of them.
Who taught you the most about box game?
Youth coaches in Canada.
What do you miss the most about playing for the Knighthawks?
Being a player is better than any position in a lacrosse organization. Once it’s over, it’s over, so enjoy it.
What impact has lacrosse had on your life?
Very significant because being a player results in many relationships with people. It had a significant impact on my job today, and I met my wife through lacrosse!
