The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says a number of people have made it aware of threats circulating on social media. They claim to come from people being bullied at school and threaten to “shoot up” a school in retaliation.
The MCSO says this is a national media post, and neither it nor the Monroe Crime Analysis Center have identified any credible threats anywhere. The threats were made on SnapChat.
The MCAC says the SnapChat threats have showed up in multiple school districts across New York State and elsewhere in the nation, all using similar language. The MCAC will continue to track and analyse these posts and remain in contact with the New York State Police and the FBI about them. They are also working with individual school districts.
