Port of Rochester from City Webcam view

The City of Rochester will make a third try at coming up with an acceptable redevelopment plan for the Port of Rochester.

City Council voted Tuesday night to hire the “Community Design Center” of Rochester to lead a new planning process for the waterfront in the Charlotte Neighborhood. The $40,000 contract will be covered half by the city and half by the Charlotte Community Association.

Officials of the Design Center say they’ll use a design “charette” process; a series of public working meetings where all interested parties put their ideas on the table and argue them into something everyone can agree on. Those meetings have not been scheduled yet.
