The man who pled guilty to plotting a terror attack on the Merchants Grill has been sentenced to the maximum term of 20 years in federal prison, followed by 50 years of supervised release.
Terror suspect Emmanuel Lutchman denounced the Islamic State group that allegedly inspired his plot, but then shouted in English and Arabic his support for ISIS, and said others will take his place. The 26-year-old man with a history of mental illness pleaded guilty in August to one count of conspiracy to provide material support to a terrorist organization. He was arrested for plotting a bombing and stabbing attack on customers of the Merchants Road Bar on New Year’s Eve of 2015.
Family members documented Lutchman’s mental health issues, which began with a head injury in a car crash when he was 12. Court papers included a letter sent by Lutchman to the judge in charge of his sentencing.
