The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office has identified the teenager who fell from a waterfall in Springwater as 18-year-old Christopher Corridi.

A statement says Corridi was hiking with a 17-year-old friend, Sam Baker, when he tried to climb the falls. He lost his footing and fell from the 100-foot high falls, sustaining a head wound. A family was wading in the stream below the falls and ran to the unconscious Corridi’s aid. Thomas Froehler and his wife, Shannon, got the teen’s head above water, controlled his breathing and administered rescue breaths until he regained consciousness. They also called 911.

Springwater firefighters rappelled down into the gorge and executed a rope rescue to bring Corridi out. He was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital where he’s recovering.
