The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and firefighters teamed up to rescue a teenager who fell about 200 feet over a waterfall in Springwater.
The accident happened near the south end of Hemlock Lake, near the lake’s boat launch. Firefighters found the 18-year-old at the bottom of the falls, where he fell while hiking with friends at the top of the gorge.
It took first responders nearly 90 minutes for a rope rescue team to bring the injured man out of the area where he landed. He was said to be alert and talking when brought out and flown by a Mercy Flight helicopter to Strong Memorial Hospital.
There’s been no word yet on how severely he was injured.
