Ernestiaze Moore, the teen accused of firing a gun at a Rochester Police Officer, has pleaded “not guilty” to second degree attempted murder and other charges.

The 17-year-old is accused of firing a shot in the direction of Officer Kelly Phillips near Santee Street as she approached him in Rochester last month. She didn’t fire back at Moore, but she and other officers chased him down and caught him.

Although she wasn’t wearing a body camera, prosecutor Perry Duckles says there’s enough evidence to justify the serious charge.

Defense Attorney Joshua Stubbe is questioning why Officer Phillips wasn’t wearing a body camera, although other officers at the scene were.

Moore will go on trial in August.
