A Rochester 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with smash-and-grab robberies overnight in Rochester. Police say a car was deliberately crashed into the front of a gas station on North Goodman near Norton Street.
A group of young people then entered the station and stole a number of items before fleeing in two vehicles.
About 45 minutes later, police were called to Chili Avenue and Thurston Road after an SUV crashed into a building. Again, a group of young people then ran into the building and stole property before fleeing in another car.
Police spotted that car about 3:15 Wednesday morning on State Street and tried to pull it over. The driver sped off and crashed into a wall at Mill Street and the Inner Loop. The driver got away, but his 17-year-old passenger was caught by police.
