The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office says 16-year-old Edgar Tolentino has been charged with second degree murder in the death of Richard Sciascia during an attempted carjacking in Gates earlier this month.

Tolentino is charged with shooting the Irondequoit man while attempting to steal his car on Buell Road along with another suspect. He was arrested by Gates Police and is currently being held without bail. He’s in court on April 28th.

At the time, police said the carjacking attempt was related to a string of armed carjackings across Monroe County. A 30-member police task force is working to bring down the gang.
