A man who carjacked a taxi at gunpoint early Thursday morning in Rochester was captured after Monroe County Deputies spotted the stolen car outside Brockport.
Rochester police say the 33-year-old taxi driver struggled briefly with the carjacker, and during the struggle a shot was fired that didn’t hit anything. The suspect got away with the cab. He was quickly spotted by police, but took off at high speed and police made the decision not to chase him because of danger to the public.
A short time later, the MCSO spotted the cab on Brockport Spencerport Rd. in the Town of Sweden. Realizing he was spotted the driver pulled into a field, bailed out and tried to run. Deputies arrested him and turned him over to city police. Charges against him are pending.
