The bail hearing for Charles Tan was postponed today until October 19th in federal court in Syracuse. That means Tan will stay behind bars at least until then. He’s in the custody of federal marshals.
Tan pled not guilty last weekend to federal charges of receiving a shotgun that was illegally purchased for him with intent to use it in committing a crime, and also to lying on the federal disclosure form while trying to buy a gun.
Tan was a Cornell University sophomore when his father was killed at the family’s Pittsford home. He was tried for murder, but the judge dismissed the charges against him after the jury deadlocked.
