The Eastman School of Music is trying to find out who left a swastika drawn on a piece of paper inside an elevator at the school this morning. The University of Rochester Department of Public Safety is investigating.

The hate symbol was found two days after a man opened fire inside a Pittsburgh synagogue, killing 11 people and wounding six more.

Dean Jamal Rossi issued a statement saying expressions of bias or hatred are simply not acceptable. He said the drawing was in violation of the UR’s policy and community standards, and the act is being taken very seriously.
