Rochester police are looking for the driver of a black SUV who struck a parked car on Columbia Avenue then left the scene.

Officers on an unrelated call saw the accident and tried to stop the SUV, but the driver kept going. They didn’t give chase, but a short time later a 911 call reported a car hitting a building at the Kennedy Towers on Plymouth Avenue.

Police found the SUV had been travelling eastbound at Barlett St when it crossed S. Plymouth, hit a fire hydrant, and sent the hydrant flying into the building. The driver then ran away.

The investigation continues as police attempt to locate the driver.
