The suspended head of Rochester’s Police Accountability Board was fired Thursday night by a five-to-one vote of the agency’s board.
The firing of Executive Director Conor Dwyer-Reynolds was recommended by an outside investigation completed this week by a law firm hired by the Rochester City Council to study the problems within the fledgling agency.
The PAB Directors also voted to find an interim executive director to replace Acting Manger Duwaine Brascoe, whose leadership contributed to a drive by staff to unionize the agency.
PAB staffers had demanded before the meeting that Dwyer-Reynolds be reinstated and Bascoe be fired. They also wanted more of a say in the board’s decision making. Bascoe had been accused by staff of leading a toxic work environment and firing employees who disagreed with him.
