The suspect arrested in the stabbing death of a young Rochester woman has made his first court appearance.

Twenty-seven-year-old Ronald Pilgrim, of Greece, was arrested after Cherylann Jackson was found dead at her apartment on North Clinton on Saturday. He pleaded not guilty Monday morning, but as he left court he could be heard saying out loud “I did it.”.

Jackson’s family members were visibly upset by the comment as Pilgrim was led out of court.

Pilgrim is being held without bail. Authorities say his comments in court may be used against him.
