The head of the Monroe County Council of School Superintendents, Bo Wright, says the last few weeks have been eventful for Monroe County Schools and the debate over New York’s mask mandate.

While he says that will be decided at the governor’s level or in the courts, Wright says he’s interested in where the “off ramp” is for the various pandemic security precautions placed on schools. Wright says the real story is that schools have been able to stay open, despite the many challenges of the COVID pandemic and the Omicron surge that infected many teachers and staff members.

Wright says there’s been no guidance from the state on how that decision will be made.
