A 7-run inning propels the Red Wings over Toledo, 8-5.

The Rochester Red Wings erupted for 7 runs in the 6th inning to beat the Toledo Mud Hens, 8-5, on Sunday evening in Ohio.

The rally started with an error that allowed Adam Brett Walker to reach, 3 consecutive hits by James Beresford, Logan Schafer, and Jorge Polanco, and a walk to Kennys Vargas. A sacrifice fly by Eddie Rosario preceeded a ground-rule, 2-run double from Tommy Field. Wilfredo Tovar closed the scoring with a RBI double that plated Field.

Rookie pitcher Nick Greenwood made his first Triple-A start for Rochester in gaining the win. He went 5 innings, scattering 4 hits and giving up 1 run. He also walked 1 and struck out 2.

The Mud Hens rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th off reliever Dan Runzler. Sean Burnett came on to get out of that inning. Alex Wimmers hurled the final 2 frames to earn his 6th save, yielding a run, 2 hits and fanning 2.

Schafer and Field each collected 3 hits in the game as Beresford and Polanco had 2 apiece. The Wings rapped out 13 hits against 5 Toledo pitchers.

Rochester (42-28) not only leads Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (41-30) in the North Division, but the Red Wings also sport the best record in the entire International League.

The Red Wings continue their road trip with 4 games in Columbus, starting Monday night.

In more roster moves by the Minnesota Twins on Sunday, LHP Tommy Milone had his contract selected by Minnesota, and LHP Pat Dean was optioned to Rochester after giving up 7 runs in 2.1 innings to the New York Yankees on Friday night in an 8-2 loss.
