Suburban schools are stretched thin, but so far managing to maintain in-person classes. Bo Wright, Superintendent of the Rush Henrietta School District, is also head of the Suburban Superintendent’s Council. He says the past few days have been a challenge, but they’ve managed to cope so far with the absences brought on by the COVID Omicron surge.
Rochester City Schools have been forced back into remote learning at least through Monday, with a decision expected Monday afternoon on whether there are enough healthy teachers and staff to reopen schools on Tuesday.
Wright says the suburban districts remain committed to staying open, often using librarians and para-professionals to cover classrooms and bus supervisors to drive school bus routes.
