The Monroe County Sheriff’s SCUBA team will go into the Genesee River tomorrow morning to check out what they believe to be the SUV driven by the missing Perinton couple, Bob and Mary Ross.
Sonar spotted what deputies believe is the SUV on the bottom of the river, off the Pelican’s Nest Restaurant and the Charlotte boat launch.
Chief Deputy Michael Fowler says it’s too risky to send a diver down until full daylight…so they won’t be sure until then. Tomorrow morning they plan to first try sending cameras down, followed by divers who will check the vehicle’s license plate and its interior.
Fowler says it will be a risk and very tricky recovery operation, working in essentially zero visibility and the possible risk of debris in the water. He says lifting the car from the water will be at the discretion of the SCUBA team commander.
Meanwhile a Greece man told reporters he saw a white Kia Sorrento like the one owned by the missing couple actually parked on the boat ramp two weeks ago.
David Diaz says he didn’t think much of the incident at first, until he saw news coverage about the missing couple.
