An attorney for the woman whose arrest by Rochester Police became the subject of a viral video says she’ll sue the department for use of excessive force.
Charles Burkwit claims Lentorya Parker was an innocent bystander who was picking up her daughter from daycare when police swept onto Hollenbeck Street for a drug raid on September 15th. A cellphone video shows police telling her to get off the sidewalk before she’s tackled and wrestled to the ground.
Burkwitt claims that’s excessive use of force. But the police union says the video starts after Parker hit an officer in the face and broke his glasses. They attorney says it never happened, but Union President Mike Mazzeo insists it did.
