Students from Greece Arcadia and some Rochester High Schools used their study hall time to fill sandbags in Greece Wednesday afternoon. They worked alongside National Guard troops and State DOT workers sent in under Governor Cuomo’s emergency declaration.
Greece Supervisor Bill Reilich says they’ve gone through half-a-million pounds of sand.
Volunteers also worked Wednesday afternoon in Irondequoit filling sandbags, and the City of Rochester gave away sandbags at the parking lot just north of the Port of Rochester Terminal Building. They’ll be back today while supplies last.
