It’s official: the third class of inductees to the World Video Game Hall of Fame at the Strong Museum of Play are Donkey Kong, Halo: Combat Evolved, Pokemon Red and Green and Street Fighter II.
The Strong says these games made it into the hall of fame because they generated gaming icons, redefined the first-person shooter game, started collector crazes and created the entire genre of fighting games.
They were singled out from a dozen finalists that also included Tomb Raider, Windows Solitaire, Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil.
