The World Video Game Hall of Fame at the Strong Museum of Play in Rochester has its 12 finalists for induction this year. They include Asteroids, John Madden Football and Final Fantasy VII.
The other finalists include Ms. Pac Man, Call of Duty, Dance Revolution, Half-Life, King’s Quest, Metroid, Minecraft, Spacewar and Tomb Raider.
Museum officials say the games span decades, gaming platforms and countries of origin — but all have had a real impact on the world of gaming and on popular culture. The final inductees will be announced May 3rd. And for the first time, people can vote online for their favorite game, through a a “Player’s Choice” ballot at worldvideogamehalloffame.org.
