uberA coalition of business leaders and supporters that reaches from Buffalo to Long Island called today for the New York State Legislature to legalize ridesharing businesses in the Empire State.

New Yorkers for Ridesharing covers Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse and Albany as well as down the Hudson to the New York City area. They want services like Uber and Lyft to be legal statewide instead of only in New York City limits.

Attempts to move the legislation through the State Senate and Assembly have failed twice, despite Governor Cuomo’s support. A Quinnipiac poll found 70 percent of New Yorkers support the alternative to traditional taxi services.
