The governors of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts and Rhode Island have joined forces to develop a plan for reopening their economies during the coronavirus pandemic.

Governor Andrew Cuomo met on a conference call with the other governors. They announced that each will appoint their chief of staff, a top economic development official and a top public health official to form a regional panel that wil work out a joint plan for restarting the regional economy. They will be charged with studying what other countries have done and benchmarking what worked and what didn’t. The plan must also have one state compliment — not work against — the others, and recognize the regional differences within the states.

Governor Tom Wolf of Pennsylvania said “we need to do this right…it recognizes that we need to come up with a specific and a smart plan for this uncertain future.”

Team members will begin meeting on Tuesday.
