The New York State Inspector General says a Rochester woman has been sentenced to eight weekends in jail, plus probation and restitution for defrauding the Worker’s Comp system.
The state says 44-year-old Valarie Everett of Lyell Avenue pled guilty to a fourth degree grand larceny charge in January. She has to pay back $34,000 she received since 2002 when she reportedly suffered knee and leg injuries after stumbling over a curb at work.
Although she claimed benefits, Everett was actually working at two different Rochester call centers for seven of those years.
