The Cuomo Administration has released its new rules for nursing home visitations during the coronavirus pandemic.

The State Department of Health says all visitors should take a rapid COVID test before entering the facility The DOH will provide the tests to the nursing homes at no cost. To allow visitors, a facility must be free of COVID-19 to begin with for 14 days.

Alternatively, those seeking to visit a loved one can show proof of a completed COVID-19 vaccination no less than 14 days from the date of the visit, and no ore than 90 days prior to the visit.

Testing is required if the facility is in a county with a COVID positivity rate of 5-10 percent. The Monroe County rate is currently hovering just below 2. If in a county with a positive rate of more than 10 percent, no visitations are allowed.
