State Police are warning of a scam involving ads offering purebred puppies for sale.
Victims say after answering the ad, the suspects provided a photo of the breed they were looking for and arranged for a deposit to be paid. Once the deposit was paid, the victims are to be provided with an address to pick up their puppy. But the address does not exist, and the money is gone.
Troopers say giveaways to the scam is that all communications are by text, no phone calls. Also, the money is to be sent by payment apps such as Zelle or CashApp.
