New York State Police say they haven’t given up hope of solving the 44-year-old homicide of a Rochester girl.
Troopers are marking Cold Case Tuesday by remembering the 1973 murder of Wanda Lee Walkowicz, who vanished on her way home from a store on Avenue D. The following day, police found the 11-year-old’s body at a highway rest area off Route 104 in Webster. An autopsy found she had been strangled and sexually assaulted.
Investigators have had numerous tips over the years and conducted numerous interviews, but the case remains unsolved. They’re asking anyone who may remember anything that could help solve the case to contact Troop E.
