New York State Police searched the home of Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren and her family on Wednesday afternoon and evening, saying only that it was part of an ongoing criminal investigation.
Troopers said they’d tell waiting reporters more when they could.
Mayor Warren’s spokesman said the mayor knew no more about the situation than anyone else, and would try to find out more overnight in order to issue a statement on Thursday.
Warren’s opponent in the June Democratic Party primary, Malik Evans, said it is not appropriate to comment at this time.
Sources told local media outlets the investigation was aimed at the mayor’s husband, Timothy Granison.
