New York State Police say they’re continuing their investigation to solve the murder of a Florida woman whose body was found in Orleans County in 1983.
The body of Shari Lynne Ball was found on October 29, 1983 by a hunter in the Town of Shelby. Her body was spotted a few feet off the shoulder of Rt. 63 on the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge. The state of decomposition led investigators to conclude she’d been there for several months.
Ball had been reported missing by her family about five months before her body was found. She’d told them she was going to New York to pursue a modeling career. At the time, she was 20 years old.
Anyone who knows anything of what happened to Shari Lynne Ball between Florida and that roadside in Orleans County is asked to contact State Police in Batavia. Investigator Michael Sims of the Criminal Investigation Bureau can be reached at 585-344-6210. Please refer to SJS # 3032334.
