New York State Police say two men have been arrested after a driver twice refused orders to stop a stolen car that was wanted in connection with a burglary at the Waterloo Outlets in Seneca County.
Troopers say they tried to stop the car about 1:00 Tuesday morning, but the driver sped up and tried to get away. He also refused orders to stop after exiting onto I-490 and then heading north on I-590. The driver then tried to exit onto Empire Boulevard, but lost control and crashed the car.
Driver Reginald Hampton of Rochester tried to run but was quickly caught by troopers. His passenger, Carlos Lozada-Ferrer of Rochester, was arrested after being removed from the car.
Hampton was wanted for absconding from parole. He was also charged with criminal possession of stolen property and fleeing from police before being sent to jail on the parole warrant. Lozada-Ferrer was also charged with criminal possession of stolen property and turned over to Seneca County authorities to face additional charges.
