New York State Police have charged a New Jersey truck driver with two counts of second degree manslaughter and leaving the scene of a fatal crash as a result of last month’s fatal crash on the Thruway in Wheatland.
Driver Quentin Campbell attempted to make a U-turn through a pull-through from the westbound to the eastbound lanes with his 18-wheeler early on the morning on September 4th. A car coming westbound slammed into the trailer, ending up partially under it. The driver was killed instantly and a passenger died later at the hospital.
Campbell then allegedly drove to the Double Tree Inn in Henrietta, where he pulled a piece of wreckage out from under his trailer and then drove on.
Campbell was extradited from New Jersey to Rochester, arraigned in Town of Wheatland Court and is being held without bail.
