Governor Cuomo has written to officials of Dresser-Rand Corporation, protesting their decision to close their plant in Wellsville, Allegany County.
Siemens, the parent company of Dresser-Rand, is selling its government services division which includes the Dresser-Rand plant. The deal specifies closing the Wellsville plant.
Cuomo, Senator Chuck Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand all signed the letter, which says the state is deeply disappointed by the decision to put 250 New Yorkers out of work. It says the state has invested its dollars in helping Dresser-Rand keep the plant competitive and urges company leadership to find an option that keeps the plant open.
Dresser-Rand makes equipment for the oil and gas drilling business.
