A missing Livingston County woman is missing no longer. After three days of searching failed to find 21-year-old Starrlita Smith of Leicester, she was found in the garage of her parents’ home.

Sheriff Thomas Dougherty said in a news conference tonight that it’s unclear if she was in the garage the entire three days, or if she wandered off and came back home. Smith is a special needs person. Her parents describe her as behaving like a six-to-12-year-old.

The sheriff says they’re still investigating whether she may have been picked up by someone or if she had been alone since she disappeared Monday night.

Sheriff Dougherty thanked the hundreds of first responders and volunteers who spent three days combing the fields and woods around Leicester, looking for some sign of Starrlita Smith.
