Section V has denied East High School student Seven McGee’s appeal, meaning he can’t play football for East this season.
McGee moved with his family to California earlier this year, but they soon returned to Rochester. Narbonne High School in California never sent Section V the paperwork needed to prove his eligibility to play for East, so he was ruled ineligible. East High Athletics filed an appeal and met last week with Section V officials, but to no avail.
East High Superintendent Dr. Shaun Nelms said in a statement that the ruling is a disappointment…and it’s unfortunate Section V wasn’t more understanding of Seven McGee’s circumstances. But Dr. Nelms says they respect the section’s need to be consistent in applying its rules.
