The 119th Annual Rochester Lilac Festival opens tomorrow, May 12th, with the “Hurlbut Hug.” Festival organizers are hoping more than 1,800 Rochesterians will help break the Guiness World’s Record for longest group hug, spreading love from one end of Highland Park to the other.
The current record was set by 1,290 people in Mexico City. Hurlbut Care Communities and CEO Robert Hurlbut are backing the effort to break their record here in Rochester.
A Guinness adjudicator will watch the attempt and rule on its success or failure at the opening Lilac Festival news conference at noon tomorrow.
