The KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship to have $41.8 Million Economic Impact on the Greater Rochester Region.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Greater Rochester Enterprise — an economic development organization focused on promoting the Greater Rochester region as a competitive place for business location and growth — is projecting the 2019 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club will have a $41.8 million economic impact on the region.
An economic impact study published by GRE also predicts more than 350 temporary jobs will be added to support the influx of golf enthusiasts. Projected fiscal impact will be greater than $8.2 million, including state, local and federal taxes. According to GRE, the industries slated to receive the biggest boost from the tournament are hotels and motels, restaurants, transportation providers, construction and maintenance firms, real estate and retail.

Greater Rochester, N.Y. has historically been an avid market for international golf events. In 2023, Oak Hill will host the 105th PGA Championship for a record-tying fourth time.
“Rochester is the perfect combination of a community that’s really passionate about golf; big enough to support it from a corporate standpoint, from a sponsorship and volunteer standpoint; and not so big that you’re competing with other major sporting events,” PGA Championship Director Bryan Karns said.
In addition to the region’s passion for golf, Greater Rochester, N.Y. is known for turning good ideas into great businesses and innovations, driving the region’s economic engine. In turn, Greater Rochester’s success attracts events like the 2019 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, which contribute even greater revenue to the region.

In addition to the 80th KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, Oak Hill has hosted the Ryder Cup, the U.S. Open Championship, the U.S. Amateur Championship, the U.S. Senior Open Championship and the PGA Championship. Locust Hill Country Club, also in Rochester, hosted the LPGA Championship annually for 38 years through 2014.
