Ten Rochester Schools have been newly identified as “schools in receivership” by the state. That means they have three years to turn around through a plan to be developed by an outside receiver.
At the same time, five city schools came off the list, and four schools are staying on.
Coming off the list are Nathaniel Rochester School Number three, Roberto Clemente School number eight, Martin Luther King School number nine, Enrico Fermi School 17 and Mary McCLeod Bethune School 45.
The Rochester City School District says School Number Nine is the only Rochester school to move into good standing after being on the failing list for three years.
District and School Board officials say this is because the school has changed its culture, moving to high expectations of students, a strong instructional program and reaching out to get families involved in their children’s schooling.
