Wayne County officials say a farm worker accused of killing his girlfriend and their 14-month-old son has pleaded guilty to causing their deaths.
The attorney representing Alberto Gutierre-Reyes says his client pleaded guilt on two counts of first-degree manslaughter in the deaths of Selena Hidalgo-Calderon and Owen Hidalgo-Calderon. A judge in Wayne County accepted the plea on Wednesday.
Gutierre-Reyes will be sentenced to 20 years in prison and five years of supervised release on each charge. Both sentences will be served at the same time.
The Wayne County Sheriff and District Attorney have a news conference scheduled for Thursday in Lyons.
