Snow caused city and a number of other school districts to close down today, and the City of Rochester opened its offices two hours late and postponed refuse collection for a day in order to use the trucks as snow plows.
The snow was heavy, wet and very slippery. Rochester reported 11 inches of snow as of this morning. Batavia had 14 inches on the ground, Medina nine inches and Marion 10 and a half.
City, county and state courts closed for the day as did the Memorial Art Gallery.
Many area counties including Livingston declared travel restrictions and Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo asked people to avoid getting on the roads until late morning to give plow crews a better chance of keeping up with the snow.
